The first time Moen is listed is in 1826. At that time, a man named Mechel who was 42 years old lived there with his wife Inger who was 51 years old along with their children: Kari, 15 years old, Krisit, 12 years old, and Gulbrand, 6 years old
This Mechel Jorgensen or Torgesen was a farmer in Prastgarden from 1816 to 1826 at which time it bagan to be called Moen. He was there no longer than until 1835.
In 1846 the farmer was Erik Pedersen Moen. He married in 1836 whle he was a laborer in Hovinsholm. Most likely he was married 2 times while living there. One of his wives was named Marte Fredriksdatter from Fjelds-eie. She was 46 and he was 41. When he actually came to Moen one can't say. As late as 1862 Erik was a grandfather but in 1862 he was dead. His wife became the tenant farmer that year. However, when she was 75 years old she lived in Ovremoen (in Kammeret?) and applied for Social Security in 1865. Erik and Marte probably didn't have any children together. But, Erik's son-in-law took over farming and lived there in 1865.
Erik's daughter Maria most likely from an earier marriage got married when she was 22 years old in 1853 to Nils Nilsen Stranden. These two took over as farmers in Nermoen. Another daughter Marie was married in 1850 to Ole Olsen from Toten and they became farmers in Ovremoen or Petterborg.
